Free, decentralized messaging.

Delaware Valley Mesh is an organized mesh network for LoRA radios on MeshCore.

What is a Mesh?

A mesh is a “network of neighbors,” where each device can pass messages from one node to the next—so communication can keep working even when cell service and the internet are unreliable or unavailable. MeshCore's mesh is built around that same idea: instead of relying on a single tower or centralized service, repeater nodes cooperate to extend coverage across a neighborhood, a town, or an event states. As more people participate, the mesh becomes more resilient; if one repeater node goes offline, messages can often route around it through other nodes.

MeshCore is the software that makes this work. It manages how nodes discover each other, relay traffic, and keep messages moving through the network. Most MeshCore deployments use LoRa (Long Range) radios, which are designed for low-power, long-distance communication. LoRa trades high bandwidth for range and efficiency—perfect for short messages and status updates that need to travel far, work from battery or solar power, and operate in areas with limited infrastructure.

Getting started is straightforward because MeshCore runs on inexpensive, readily available hardware. In most setups, you install MeshCore on a small LoRa-capable device, then use your phone as the user interface. Your phone connects to the node over Bluetooth, letting you send and receive messages locally while the device handles the long-range mesh networking in the background.
